On Monday 17th November, members of The Royal Opera Chorus are going to Venturi’s Table Corporate Cookery Centre to ‘teambuild’ over making homemade ravioli and Panettone pudding in tv-set style kitchens. The Venturi’s Table cookery experience, normally used as a way for big business brands to build professional relationships, has been arranged by the Royal Opera House to bolster the singers as they face the start of the busy and important Christmas season.
The Christmas season is an important time in The Royal Opera’s calendar, with this year being no exception, as The Royal Opera Chorus prepare to perform in the famously spectacular production of Turandot which, this year, will also mark the 150th anniversary of Puccini. With expectations higher than ever at Christmas, and with most of the singers having already ‘brought down the house’ in over 150 performances this year, Turandot will be one of the most challenging productions of 2008 for The Royal Opera Chorus.
Turandot is also one of The Royal Opera’s most popular and anticipated shows, in part thanks to Pavarotti’s rendition of the famous opera aria ‘Nessun dorma’ at the 1990 FIFA World Cup. Before their Christmas run starts, members of The Royal Opera Chorus are going to Venturi’s Table Corporate Cookery Centre to help build further a supportive dynamic within the group and give them an enjoyable treat.
During their cookery experience on Monday 17th November, The Royal Opera Chorus will enjoy some much-deserved ‘culinary therapy,’ sipping fine Sicilian wines in gorgeous, state-of-the-art facilities. Through cooking together and sharing a mutual enjoyment of delicious food The Royal Opera Chorus will also form stronger bonds as they spend quality time together outside of their normal working environment.
Anna Venturi, Managing Director of Venturi’s Table Corporate Cookery Centre commented; “As well as hosting more conventional organisations such as GSK, Barclays, BP, Microsoft, PWC and Nestle our centre has also been used by some more unlikely groups of professionals. We have hosted engineers from Southwest trains, driving instructors, brain-storming creatives, the UK’s biggest importers of berries and Selfridges’ window dressers. It is clear that whatever the business sector, organisations that invest in feel-good events for staff are business savvy. Individuals perform well when they feel appreciated and feel part of a caring team. As the Royal Opera House has done, it is also particularly shrewd to organise team-boosting events before a challenging period of work in order to motivate employees and inspire best performance.”
